Magnetic Events were awarded the contract to create and deliver the opening
ceremony for the launch of this new £ 20m aquatic centre, with a large scale
spectacular, free, outdoor event. The landmark building is contributing
to the evolution of Sunderland and the North East and is part of the development
of the 2012 Olympic ambitions.
Magnetic Events created a site specific outdoor event through a creative

Outdoor Spectacular Launch
Magnetic Events devised and directed a visual and dance poem for the spectacular, using the entire exterior of the Sunderland Aquatic Centre for an event to be seen by an audience of 10,0000. The launch event received extensive broadcast media and press coverage.
The Inside Launch Celebrations
Magnetic Events, working with choregrapher Amanda Drago, (Falling Cat Company
www.fallingcat.co.uk),
brought together 120 dancers, swimmers and divers to create an aquatic production
of synchronised dance, swimming, diving and aquabatics in a 30 minute high
energy show of talent and skill.
